Fat in the abdominal cavity – belly fat – is a big problem, no pun intended there, it’s a serious problem.  You should be looking at ways to get rid of belly fat, even if you’re not very heavy.  But how to lose belly fat? That’s the question everyone asks.  Sometimes it’s easier said than done.  Well StayHealthyTV has some tips to help beat that belly fat.  Go on – there’s plenty in this list you can do!  Take the plunge and give it a go.

1. Don’t skip breakfast!  They don’t call it the most important meal of the day for nothing.  You’re unlikely to overeat the rest of the day with a morning meal.

2. Avoid Sugar and sugar-sweetened drinks:  It’s totally unhealthy.  Eating sugar overloads the liver which is forced to turn it all into fat – which accumulates around the belly.

3. Eat more protein.  Meat is a natural source of nutrients, which makes it a great protein option you can enjoy and it’s the most ‘filling’ nutrient by far – just don’t go overboard with it.  Eggs, fish, seafood, legumes, nuts and some whole grains are also good sources of protein.  Protein can have a huge effect on the accumulation of belly fat.

4. Cut carbs:  This isn’t a new fad, it works!  Cutting carbs from your diet will help you lose weight and belly fat and the health benefits gained make it worth your while to cut white bread, pasta and refined carbs from your diet!

5. Eating fibre-rich foods is beneficial for weight loss.  Beans and legumes are rich in fibre and protein and these nutrients help us to feel full, so that we don’t overeat.

6. Exercise!!  Of course exercise was going to be on the list!  One of the best things you can do if you want to live a long, healthy life is to get up and get active!  Vigorous exercise is effective at reducing belly fat.

7.   Water:  We all know this one; drink more water!  Drinking before a meal will take up room in your stomach, making you feel full and reducing your appetite.

8. Limit Alcohol Intake:  Too much can make you gain belly fat.  Heavy alcohol consumption is linked with excessive fat storage around the waist.

Change your lifestyle.  If you want good results then combine different methods that are known to be effective.  When you develop healthy habits, for life, and eat real food, that’s the key to losing your belly fat and keeping it off.
