Home Remedies for Urinary Tract Infections (UTI’s)

Sudden urges to urinate, pain while urinating, and abdominal cramping – all uncomfortable urinary tract infection symptoms.  Over the counter medications are very effective but here’s the good news!  Home remedies can also help you get much needed relief.  In this video, StayHealthyTV will teach you 8 of the best, natural remedies for UTI.  These tips are the go-to solution our family uses for bladder infection relief.

So here we go:
1. Water
Drink water – drink lots of it!  Water flushes out the bacteria in your bladder. It also dilutes your urine, so urination may be less painful. Concentrated, dark urine is more acidic and can sometimes be more painful to pass when you have a bladder infection. Diluted urine is lighter in colour and usually doesn’t burn as much.
2.  Cucumbers
Enjoy some fresh cucumber slices! With their high water content, they are a great way to get extra fluid.
3.  Baking Soda
This can help neutralize or lessen the acidity of your urine.  Mix in a glass 1 tsp baking soda and 8 oz water, stirring until it dissolves, then drink.
4. Parsley tea
Parsley tea is a well-known natural remedy, for UTI’s.  It can help relieve UTI’s and speeds up the healing process.  Making a regular herbal tea by infusing just fresh parsley leaves in boiling water is an option you can try.
5. Coconut water
Coconut water is a refreshingly light drink, but it is rich in electrolytes and has a chemical composition similar to blood plasma. Drinking the water from 2-3 tender coconuts a day can get rid of the infection in just a few days.
6. Ginger Tea
Ginger has powerful anti-inflammatory properties and can significantly reduce inflammation.
It does not allow blood vessels to get inflamed therefore it helps increase blood flow to the body and reduces pain.  Mix together:
2 inches (5cm) ginger root or 2 tsp dried ginger
2 tbsp or 30ml organic lemon juice
1-2 tsp (5ml) honey
4 cups hot water
Steep 5 mins.  Enjoy!
7.  Heat
A heating pad or hot water bottle placed over the kidney area or across the abdominal region may soothe the dull ache that sometimes occurs during bladder infections.
8.  Watermelon
In addition to being deliciously refreshing, watermelon juice is great for cleansing the urinary tract and removing bacteria which can cause infections.
