Kick That Headache In the Butt! Say Goodbye To PAIN!!

There’s nothing worse than a pounding headache that just won’t go away!  So many things can cause one - tension, hangovers, lack of sleep, smoking, stress, to name a few.  Yes, over-the-counter medications can be effective but what about natural home remedies?  It may surprise you to learn there are home remedies that can give instant headache relief.

1 Ginger:  It’s the universal cure!  It’s a powerful anti-inflammatory so relieves the discomfort of inflamed blood vessels in the head.  Sip on some ginger lemon tea, easy to make!  Cut up some fresh ginger, add a squeeze of lemon and cover with boiling water.  This is perfect to sip on.

2. Peppermint Tea: It’s a powerful relaxant, often used for pain relief and in this instance, one of the best home remedies.  It helps open and close the vessels in the head, and this accelerates the blood flow, reducing the headache.  Peppermint tea bags are ideal for this or peppermint oil gently rubbed on your forehead, temples and back of jaws.

3. Garlic and Honey:  What a combo!  Both have anti-inflammatory properties so you will get real soothing and pain relief.  Try garlic tea with a touch of honey.  Steep minced garlic in boiling water then strain and drink.

4. Rosemary:  This wonderful herb is an all-natural pain reliever that can help heal your headache.  Try rubbing rosemary oil on your temples to relieve the tension.  Herbal teas are always helpful:  Crush some rosemary leaves and add to some water to boil.  Cover and let the water cool down.  Strain and drink.

5. Green Tea:  Where green tea really shines is in its massive range of antioxidants which stimulate the nervous system, activates the brain and eliminates free radicals from the body.  Sip on a cup of green tea, add some honey and a squeeze of lemon to get quick relief from that headache.

6. Lavender Oil:  Known for its calming and soothing effects, lavender oil is a great remedy for a headache!  Put boiled water in a basin, add a few drops of lavender oil, and inhale the steam, several times through the day.  A more immediate relief is to apply the oil directly to the forehead and temples and gently rub for pain relief.

I am pretty sure there are loads of other herbs or natural remedies out there.  Find what works for you, think natural before reaching for the Tylenol, you will be pleasantly surprised!
