Lose Weight the HEALTHY way!

We all know what foods to avoid – French fries, potato chips, sugary drinks and white bread – I could go on, you know the foods I’m talking about – they’re not weight loss foods. But it’s not all bad.  Here are 7 foods that you can eat and enjoy, and they’re totally awesome for weight loss.

1 Leafy greens:  Chard, kale, spinach and collard greens, to name a few, are all low in both calories and carbs but loaded with fibre.  Leafy greens are hugely nutritious and can be eaten freely without increasing calories.  Sopile up your plate with these beauties - you can eat them to your heart’s content!  And they don’t have to be boring either! Try them in a smoothie with fruit, I’ll even give you a recipe idea before I finish.

2 Lean Beef and Chicken Breast:  Did you know that beef can help in weight loss?  Meat is a natural source of nutrients, which makes it a great protein option you can enjoy, and it’s the most filling nutrient by far – just don’t go overboard with it.  I guess that’s how we got to where we are now – eating to excess.  It’s really all about portion control.

3. Beans and Legumes:  We know that exercise is beneficial for weight loss, but so are beans and legumes!  They are high in protein and fibre, and these nutrients help us to feel full, so that we don’t overeat.

4. Avocados:  Adding avocado to a meal will help you feel fuller, plus they are loaded with healthy fats and nutrients. Avocados are perfect to add to salads as the fats in them can increase the nutrient uptake from the vegetables.  These are an excellent supplement to an effective weight loss programme.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar:  ACV helps suppress appetites, controls blood sugar levels and prevents fat accumulation.  Adding some honey to the ACV drink can make this weight loss remedy taste better and it also helps rid your body of toxins at the same time!  ACV and Honey – it’s a win-win!

6. Olive Oil: Rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants, it reduces hunger pangs and calorie intake and it regulates serotonin in the blood which gives you the feeling of fullness.

7. Green Tea:  Drink green tea!  It boosts your metabolism and increases fat burning during exercise and rest.  Having before meals may help you to feel full so drinking green tea to lose weight may help.

And then there’s exercise … and sleep … but those are for another time. Get plenty of exercise and sleep – along with a healthy and nutritious meal plan, and you will see wonderful results.


This is a basic smoothie recipe:
1 cup green grapes, ½ cup pineapple, 2 cups fresh spinach, ½ ripe banana, peeled, ½ cup water, 1 cup ice cubes.  Blend all those & enjoy.  If you’re more adventurous, and you want to make a very green smoothie, add more veges and less fruit.  But it’s one of those things you should play around with until you get a mix that suits.
