Lavender Essential Oil Benefits

Trust me when I say if you only use one essential oil, this is it!  Lavender – it’s known for its ability to relax and calm the body, physically and emotionally, but it’s benefits don’t stop there.  Stay with me and we’ll tell you all about why you should have lavender in your life.

So, let’s find out why lavender is a miracle in a bottle.  Apart from the fact it can be applied directly on the skin and most people love the scent, here’s some of the things its useful for:

1 Its antibacterial:
Use a few drops of lavender oil to clean infected wounds, to prevent infection and to promote faster healing.  Use on burns and sunburn for cooling and healing, insect bites and on minor cuts for healing and soothing.  If your skin is itching, apply to bites and rashes to cool the itch.

2 Calming:
One of lavender’s best-known benefits is it’s calming aromatherapy effect, which is why it’s used so often in massage oils and body products. Diffuse lavender essential oil into any room filled with stress to calm things down.  Rub or spray on temples, forehead and the back of the jaw to relieve stress or use as a preventative before entering a stressful environment, or apply lavender essential oil after a shower for a full body effect.

3 Sleeping Aid:
Lavender oil can improve the quality of your sleep.  It can help you fall asleep faster, and it can help you drift into a deeper sleep; try diffusing lavender into the room or rubbing oil on your wrists and temples and chest before you lie down, or spray your pillowcase with an aromatherapy product.  This is one of the most effective natural remedies for insomnia.

In the kitchen:  
Mix a few drops of lavender and eucalyptus with water for a mild disinfectant spray for counter tops.
